Hello and welcome to wellnourished108!
I bet you are wondering “what kind of name is THAT for a well-being website? Is it about food and diet? Where are my 10 steps to better health and happy living?” Well, you won't find a prescription here but rather a way of life and a fellowship of others experiencing a similar journey.
I have named my site to symbolize that this is a place to become nourished. Mind, body, and soul. And heal from the dis-ease that our modern lifestyles created in our bodies today. So many of us suffer from autoimmune and gut diseases and I was shocked to find this out through my journey into this realm. My first visit to a GI doctor, well over 10 years ago now, due to some disturbing IBD-type symptoms showed me a long line of folks all being diagnosed with IBD, Crohn’s, and colitis. I was told there is no known cause or cure by the medical professional. I thought surely there is an answer to this other than “I don’t know but try this prescription and avoid stress”. So, my investigation work began, and wow what a journey it has been to my complete GI health and autoimmune disease remission!
The next thing you’re probably wondering is why the number. The number 108 is a yogic symbol of spiritual completion. I have always been drawn to and comforted by this number since yoga teacher training. There are 108 sun salutes, 108 asana poses in sets of 9, 108 beads in a mala to use while chanting and aligning chakras, etc. Over and over there it was. It was a gut instinct (pun intended) to add it and so I did! I long ago learned to listen to my gut both literally and figurately because it is the source of all health and well-being.
Upon the launch of this website, I was drawn to discover more facts about the number 108 and its meaning. My mind was blown! In the laws and science of nature and the universe, the number 108 repeats itself over and over in creation. 108 seems to be a mysterious number that connects the ancient world to the modern world and also connects the physical realm to the metaphysical realm. The number 108 is sacred in mathematics, geometry, astrology, numerology, and many world religions and spiritual traditions.
Here are a few examples I learned today:
The nautilus shells. What’s amazing is that the 1.08 constant growth rate the nautilus uses to build its spiral shell involves the same pattern which repeats every 24 numbers in the Fibonacci sequence (rooted in theory from ancient Sanskrit text).
The Earth, Sun, and Moon. The number 108 has significance regarding the distance between the earth and the moon and between the earth and the sun. The distance between the moon and the earth is 108 times the diameter of the moon – but only once a month because according to NASA the moon’s orbit around the Earth is not a perfect circle but more of an ellipse. Similarly, the distance between the earth and the sun is 108 times the diameter of the sun. Earth’s orbit around the Sun is however also an ellipse. And so on September 18-19, the distance of the Sun from Earth is 108 times that of the Sun’s diameter.
The Chakra’s as seen in the above picture on Earth are the intersections of subtle nerve channels or nadiis, and there are said to be a total of 108 nadiis converging to form the heart chakra. One of them, Sushumna leads to the crown chakra and is said to be the path to Self-realization.
These facts and many other listed in a wonderful article cited (https://www.himalayanyogainstitute.com/what-is-so-sacred-about-the-number-108/) was all confirmation to me that this journey was meant to be. We are exactly on the right path to the creation and healing of whole health and the universe supports it. I have learned through experience that the body is built to heal itself if given the right nutrients from the earth and alignment with the spirit. And believe me when I say that it will once we give it the opportunity. Where there is life there is HOPE!
I look forward to sharing the wealth of knowledge I have been blessed to have been given and applied to my own life. And I hope you will benefit from it just as much as I have. In the future, I plan to add some podcasts and gentle yoga classes. For now, I will be getting to know you through blogging, and hope you enjoy the ride!
Love and Light to you all - CK
